What We Do
Mensink Counseling & Consulting specializes in building secure, healthy relationships, improving emotional regulation and stress management, enhancing communication, and promoting the development of skills to deal with life’s stressors.
By acknowledging historical and early childhood trauma, and the connection between one’s past and present, we support you in developing greater meaning, connectedness, and strategies for navigating relationships and challenges in life.

Does your young child have difficulty managing their emotions, engage in aggressive behaviors, or struggle to follow rules in the home?
Children under the age of 6 can benefit from parent-child therapy services to support healthy growth and development, support healthy attachment in relationships, and heal from early childhood trauma and stress.
A provider will work with your family to identify concerns for your child and develop a plan to build regulation and coping through working with you (or another caregiver) and the young child directly.
We are trained in the following interventions:
Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP): A trauma-informed play therapy intervention effective in processing and healing trauma for children under the ages of 6.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): A play-based intervention designed to help children ages 2-9 learn skills for regulating, improving attention, and increasing compliance with rules and instructions in the home.
Circle of Security-Informed Therapy (COS-IT): A caregiver only, attachment-based intervention suited for caregivers looking to have a more secure attachment with their children ages 2-15.
